BER: It’s Midnight, you want to carry on… where do you go?
JJ: Hmm, tough call.. I’m 9 years sober so it’s rare for me to want to carry on, ha !
BER: In the morning, your mouth tastes like a pub carpet and your head is on richter scale 5, what’s the cure?
JJ: A hot shower and a strong cup of tea.
BER: Tell us your latest discovery?
JJ: I recently shot the lookbook for METERS MUSIC, you can find them on Instagram etc - they’re a new brand of headphones coming out in 2017. They seriously are a game changer. They sound incredible and look cool as funk.
BER: Your wardrobe's is on fire…. what piece of clothing do you rescue?
JJ: Would have to be my Black Eye Rags shirt and Rogues of London double-breasted suit, so I can look sharp no matter what comes at me.
BER: What’s your favourite Instagram pic?
JJ: My own Instagram pics hold a lot of great memories for me, so it would be hard to choose!
BER: Who, what or where do you get your inspiration from?
JJ: With music I get my inspiration from the legends, as I guess most of us do. James Jamerson, Bob Babbitt, John Entwistle. I listen to the old Motown greats mainly, then a bit of disco ( from the good era ). I do like a lot of new bands/artists but most music nowadays is throwaway singles, so it’s hard to get into someone new as they’re never around long enough!
In regards to style, I take influence from what’s going on around me but I don’t follow the fashions, I haven’t got time for that. I’ve had the same jeans for 5 years, same coats for longer. I just wear what I like and recycle my wardrobe to suit my flex.
BER: Name a Hero? and Zero?
JJ: A hero to me is anyone who speaks the truth no matter of the consequences. I don’t really get involved with idols etc, so can’t really name any one particular person. My family are my heroes, not matter what we face we always stick together and get through it with the help of each other.
Zero; maybe the asshole who sabotaged my old car...
BER: What’ve you got cooking?
JJ: I’m busy with music, got a lot of shows coming up before the end of the year with my band Dead Sea Skulls, we are touring Scandinavia in Dec and releasing a single over there via Warner Music. I’m also out on the road with Willow Robinson*, who’s got an amazing team around him.
BER: “You Rule” …. for a day…..what law would you pass?
JJ: That religion and politics are separated.
BER: Can you tell us a secret?
JJ: I honestly don’t have any!
